What seed is that. – Revised Edition

$58.50

This revised edition now looks at the next phase of seed collection; that is, its use in revegetation. Our rapid clearance of the Australian landscape during the past 200 years has brought many serious land problems to this great continent. Our land has not been managed well during that period and, in many ways, the original indigenous peoples had a better record of land management. This does not to any extent take away from the excellent efforts to redress this by many people during the past thirty years.

Description

The revegetation industry has moved ahead since the first printing of this book, as well as the knowledge now available.

Many of us, as new land managers, did not, and may still not, understand the heartbeat of one of the most fragile landscapes on earth. As a generalization, it is true to say that we still have a long way to go if we are to arrest some of the land degradation issues. An ever growing and larger proportion of our land is still being degraded by the effects of vegetation clearance which causes increased acidification, salinity and a loss of high fertility soils.
