Hawker is a good base for you to use while visiting the Central Flinders Ranges. Hawker has all facilities to make your holiday enjoyable. Hawker Caravan Park is a good base to for your caravanning or camping holiday.
We have GOOD WATER, Hawker has desalinated water, which is much better than the water that was supplied up until 2014.
Hawker gives you options to eat out, buy fuel, have your vehicle or tyres repaired and offers an excellent health service with a doctor, hospital and volunteer ambulance service.
Call into the Hawker Visitor Centre we have a good range of food items, including frozen meat, camping equipment, books and souvenirs.
Recreational activities in Hawker are bowls, golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool and the annual Hawker races, Craft Mart and Flindersfest.
There are many caravanning and camping options available in the area which including Caravan Parks, National Parks and designated bush camping sites on private properties.
A dump point for the caravanner or motor home traveller is now available, near Blue Burt Park on Elder Terrace.
National Parks.
In the Flinders Ranges National Park there are a number of designated camping areas in both Bunyeroo Gorge and Brachina Gorge.
A word of warning in Bunyeroo and Brachina gorge – many of these camp sites may not be accessible with low ground clearance caravans or motorhomes. Also high vehicles must watch for low tree branches over the roads.
These sites are all unpowered and an Entry Permit and Camping fees applies and must be obtained before entry.
Entry Permits and Camping fees can be purchased from Hawker Visitor Information Centre, Wilpena Pound Visitor Information Centre or online.
A number of station properties provide powered sites and have bush camping.

While you are sitting outside at night enjoying the atmosphere of the Flinders Ranges, it is an ideal opportunity to study the sky for satellites or try and locate stars and constellations.
