Caravanning and Camping in the Flinders Ranges

Hawker is a good base for you to use while visiting the Central Flinders Ranges. Hawker has many facilities to make your holiday enjoyable.

We have GOOD WATER, Hawker now is supplied with desalinated which is much better than the water supplied up until 2014.

Hawker gives you options to eat out, buy fuel, have your vehicle or tyres repaired and offers an excellent health service with a doctor, hospital and volunteer ambulance service.

Call into the Hawker Visitor Centre we have a good range of food items, including frozen meat, camping equipment, books and souvenirs.

Recreational activities in Hawker are bowls, golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool and the annual Hawker races, Craft Mart and Flindersfest.

There are many caravanning and camping options available in the area which including Caravan Parks, National Parks and  designated bush camping sites on private properties.

In Hawker there is one caravan park, with shady powered and unpowered sites, ensuites are also available for those seeking some ‘luxury.’

A dump point for the self contained caravanner or motor home traveller is now  available near Blue Burt Park on Elder Terrace.

Rawnsley Park and Wilpena Pound Resort both have large camping areas with both powered and unpowered sites.

In Blinman, at the rear of the Hotel there are sites available – both powered and unpowered and also at the Angorichina Tourist Village, in Parachilna Gorge.

Parachilna gorge is accessed from either Parachilna or Blinman.

Camping is also available at Parachilna.

In the Flinders Ranges National Park there are a number of designated camping  areas in both Bunyeroo Gorge and Brachina Gorge.

A word of warning in Bunyeroo and Brachina gorge – many of these may not be accessible for access with low ground clearance caravans or motorhomes and also high vehicles must watch for low tree branches.

These sites are all unpowered and an Entry Permit and Camping fees applies and must be obtained before entry.

Entry Permits and Camping  fees can be purchased from Hawker Visitor Information Centre, Wilpena Pound Visitor Information Centre or online.

A number of station properties  provide powered sites and have bush camping.

While you are sitting outside at night enjoying the atmosphere of the Flinders Ranges it is an ideal opportunity to study the sky for satellites or try and locate stars and constellations.
