Lake Eyre, officially known as Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre, contains the lowest natural point in Australia, at approximately 15 m below sea level, and, on the rare occasions that it fills, is the largest lake in Australia, covering 9,500 km².

Marree, is  now accessible from all capital cities of Australia by sealed road. The sealed road was completed during the week of the 9th to 15th June 2019.
